Dorothy Martin, American widow, likes her new home in the cathedral town of Sherebury, England. While debate rages over the decaying town hall, the body of an unknown young man is found on the site. Her increasingly dear friend Chief Constable Alan Nesbitt warns her away from the official investigation, but Dorothy finds plenty of skeletons in local closets.
