The Interpet Manual of Marine Invertebrates

Book Description: Keeping marine invertebrates successfully poses two major challenges: which animals to choose and how to set up a tank for them. This book provides practical answers to both challenges. It opens with an introduction to the biology of marine invertebrates and then examines how to meet their needs in captivity. It closes with a colourful survey of suitable aquarium subjects, from sponges and sea anemones to octopi and crabs. About the Author: Martyn Haywood has pursued a lifelong interest in fishkeeping. Having kept and bred sticklebacks as a child, he went on to keep freshwater tropical fishes and then embarked on setting up marine tanks, which have been a major interest for 17 years. As livestock manager for a major London aquatic business and now as proprietor of his own aquatic centre in Hampshire, Martyn is ideally placed to advise on all the practical aspects of selecting and keeping marine invertebrates. He has written numerous articles on the subject for magazines in the UK and overseas, and in Parts Two and Three of this book combines his skills as author and marine expert to encourage both aspiring and committed aquarists to establish their own invertebrate tanks. Sue Wells graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Zoology. She has travelled widely, researching, lecturing and writing on invertebrates and coral reef conservation. At the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources - the IUCN- in Cambridge, she was co-compiler of the Invertebrate Red Data Book, with special responsibility for 'non-insect' invertebrate groups, particularly molluscs and marine species. She has prepared Part One of this book.
