Minette Walters pens beautifully traditional mysteries. The Scolds Bridle is about dark family secrets, greed and manipulation. Cleanly written and intelligently poised. I really enjoyed this although I've dropped a star purely due to the fairly constant references to Shakespeare's works which are slightly above my intelligence. Would happily recommend this, though if you prefer really dark intense books then this may be a bit tame for you. I haven't read The Dark Room yet, the second story in this particuar edition.
